Certainly not a new album, but Mudhoney's story is riveting. The proto-grunge group formed in 1988 in Seattle (where else?) and were extremely influential and revered in the height of the grunge movement. Even when the sound was declared dead, they carried on and are still producing successful albums. Into the Drink is taken from their second album, and the last one they did with Sub Pop, Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge. It seems the label was strapped for cash in the early nineties -- in their infancy, who could blame them? -- and Mudhoney stuck around long enough to crank out their sophomore effort for Sub Pop, before heading for more stable ground with Reprise. We won't talk about that. Instead listen to the early-early-nineties sound that influenced such household names as Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains.

It's funny that he has "new wave" written on his guitar. Everyone seems to forget how much the grunge/alternative movement rose out of new wave influences. I think it was even Kurt Cobain who said he would bring back new wave.
