Really? Do we really need another free-love hippie communist music collective? Okay, deep breath, let Billy Preston fix it. Turns out they're a charity cover band, with each of the famous participants contributing proceeds to the charity of his or her choice. I guess I can get behind that.

HoneyHoney - Little Toy Gun

The fantastically fresh HoneyHoney emerged this year from sunny California. Picked up by Ironworks, a label founded by 24 star Kiefer Sutherland and his longtime friend Jude Cole, HoneyHoney have burst onto the scene with their 5-song EP Loose Boots. The album is a combination of sixties-style gimmicky singles (think Nancy Sinatra) and slow ballads which show off Suzanne Santo's amazing vocal talent and partner Ben Jaffe's sensitive style. Below, one of the former variety. Check out the Spanish-influenced EP opener, Little Toy Gun.

I used to love watching it because it added another layer to the music video I had maybe grown to find a little stale. Sunny Day Sets Fire

A band that come from all over the globe has got to have some worldly influences, and Sunny Day Sets Fire, collectively from Hong Kong, Italy, Sardinia, Canada, and the UK do not disappoint. Their first full-length album, Summer Palace, promises to be topsy-turvy psychedelic goodness, if the teaser track below is any indication.

Gnarly sophomores

After Justin made me listen to Crazy about a zillion times, I mentioned to a friend that "he's just nuts for that guy," to which she replied, "those guys."
